Cowan Head consists of eight apartment buildings, a leisure centre with heated indoor swiming pool, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and a nine hole practice golf course on an area of almost fifty acres. Entance to the estate is via an electronically controlled security gate.
Developed to a high standard by J.N. Bentley Ltd. of Skipton several of the buildings were converted from original mill structures while others are newly constructed. The first residents moved into their homes in 1994 and the final phase of construction was completed in 1999. Appropriately integrated old and new buildings, named after local fells, compliment their Lakeland environment providing new architectural interest.
Grounds
The grounds are attractively landscaped and carefully managed with respect for the environment and all its inhabitants..
The Cowan Head Estate is owned jointly by the owners of the sixty residential properties.
Directors
A number of homeowners, usually around five are elected to serve a term as Directors of The Estate Company and are accountable to the owner/shareholders.
Annual General Meeting
Once a year a formal meeting of owners is convened. This usually takes place over the Spring Bank holiday. Cowan Head Estates benefits greatly from the fact that many owners have considerable executive and managerial experience at senior levels.
Site Manager
The day to day management of Cowan Head is in the hands of a full time site manager.additionally CowanHead Estate contracts professional gardening services and a cleaner who is responsible for the interior public spaces.
Management Company
Instructed by the Directors, a professional management company negotiates and administers other services provided to the estate. These include the maintenance of the exterior fabric and common interior areas of the buildings, including vital amenities such as lifts, gates, landscaping and golf practice area. The management company is also responsible for the collection of maintenance charges.
It should be observed what Cowan Head is not. It is not a time share complex and it is not a development of holiday rental property. In fact apartment leases specifically forbid such uses. The apartments are homes and are used as such by those who own them.
